Television…

Husband and I gave up our cable over a year ago.  He may say otherwise, but I haven’t regretted it at all.  Sure, sometimes I miss watching Good Eats, and we enjoyed watching Top Gear together, but the rest is mostly available, for free, with an antenna or online.

You see, our cable bill was 100 dollars a month.  We didn’t watch that much tv with Abram around, so Husband and I made the decision to get rid of it.  When husband took the box back to the store, they asked if he was switching to another provider.  He said “No, we just aren’t watching TV,” and the poor clerk stared at him like he had the plague.

We haven’t given up TV altogether.  No, we have just taken control back.  The antenna we bought gives us just as clear a picture as cable, sometimes even better.  We get all the major channels you’d get with basic cable – Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, and so on.

We missed the DVR, but with HULU and other channel websites, we can still watch our shows on our own time.  We bought a 400 dollar computer to use solely with our television.  It has a HDMI port, and was on sale.

To be honest, I don’t think we will ever go back to cable.  Our lives are just as rich, television wise, that it seems silly to pay somebody for something you can get for free.  I recommend it to everyone.
